Happy Birthday to my 1st little princess and our baby princess

6 years ago my first little granddaughter, Carolyn Louise Bailey came into the world. We share the same middle name which neither one of us like but it does give us a special bond. She warmed my heart from the very beginning and continues to fill my life with joy! I was so excited to finally have a little princess! I could hardly wait to make her a fancy blessing dress and make bonnets and bows again. We discovered that she liked the feel of silk and so I made her a special little lavender silk blanket that soon became known as her "silky" and went everywhere she went. (She has loved it through the years and it is now worn and not so silky but I am sure it still brings comfort.) I remember as her light hair began to grow it stuck straight up and we called it "chicken hair" but as it continued to grow it turned into the most beautiful long blond hair. Her grandaddy just loves her silky hair. She is our little sassy blond beauty.

.... and then 5 years later after a few more princesses ( who I will tell you all about in Jan. and March) we got our adorable little Alee pop on the same day as Princess #1- Nov. 17th. She sure scared her Grammy as she was so slow coming into our world and finally after her mommy labored all day the doctors had to take over and tell Alee that she really needed to come out. Well I guess by force she did have to let go of her Mommy but she quickly thought of a new plan. She would stay as close to her as possible and the sling and her Mommy's hip became her favorite place to be. Hopefully she will soon discover that her Grammy's lap is a wonderful spot for all of Grammy's girls.

Seth got his very own set of scriptures from Grandma and Gramps, roller skates, movies, some cool clothes, a fishing hat and fishing rod, a light saber, and neat marionette puppets . Wow what a great birthday.
Such a fun day. I am so grateful for such a wonderful grandson. He has brought joy and love to us since the day he was born.

Fruits of my labor

I have enjoyed growing a lemon tree through the summer and was so excited when it started to produce real fruit! I am still learning about growing fruit trees and don't know all the tips but love that my variegated pink lemon tree made it so far. I just gave it sunshine and water. The outside is yellow with green stripes and the inside is pink.

It made 6 lemons

Growing my lemon tree was one of my Personal Progress Projects for Young Women under the value of Knowledge. I had so much enjoyment watching and caring for my plant that I think I will add another fruit tree to my porch garden in the spring!

September

Seems like September just sailed along quickly. I enjoyed a weekend visit to Columbia to see Seth and Carolyn in their primary program. Jared,Kristen and Chloe came to visit us and Kristen and Jacob celebrated birthdays. ( Still waiting to have Jacob and Brittany come to celebrate with Jacob) Here are a few pics taken this month.

Back to school

One more year to go and the Edwards family will have completed 25 straight years of school days!
Next year we will certainly enjoy a celebration as David completes High School but just for now we will stop for a moment...... and stroll down memory lane. As I made David pose for a quick picture this morning before he left to drive himself to his new school- The Acadamy for Art, Science and Technology in Myrtle Beach (AAST for short), I couldn't help but remember a time many years gone by. My little fellow with his LLbean blue bookbag and favorite brand of shirt headed off to a new school for 1st grade. I worried and hoped he would make friends and be happy. That he would like his teacher and not be disappointed with his new journey. Today was not much different. I still worried and hoped he would make friends and be happy. I knew I wasn't there to drop him off or watch him walk through the door but I reached into my pocket and felt my cell phone and was grateful for modern technology. I was waiting on it to vibrate so I could answer and here that he had made it safely there. I hoped the Highway would be calm on the 20 minute drive, the merging and turning with all the traffic would not be so difficult.... I stopped what I was doing at work to answer my phone..."Mom, I made it to school, someone was nice and stopped to let me make the left hand turn into school with ease." grateful for little blessings, grateful for the Father's blessing he received earlier that morning.
2:50...Mom it was a great day. I'll tell you all about it when I pick you up.
